He was fine until he got benefits from his "service". If he hadn't gotten the Purple Heart registration, it would have fallen under the 1st Amendment.

Well that isn't a stolen valor thing.. that is just a regular fraud thing... It's the same as faking disability to get a social security check.

Also the real crimes I saw was menacing, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, fraud... Which are irrelevant to the stolen valor claim... If he are waving a pistol around and raving like a maniac... You have better grounds for action than pointing out he like to cosplay a navy seal.

Never said he wasn't committing fraud or theft by deception. Just saying he was fine until he started benefiting from it. I can walk around all day with Silver Stars and Purple Hearts while saying I was a command pilot with the rank of colonel. Nothing can be done to stop me. But once I start getting money from the VA or a Purple Heart vehicle registration, that's when it crosses the line into illegality.

There is grounds for appeal since the supreme court struck down the stolen valor act citing first amendment in United States vs Alverez...

LTC Eugene Chu if it has been overturned by the supreme court then the law is invalid in it's entirety
... They only crime is defrauding the government by filing a fake application for benefit.

LTC Eugene Chu I assume you have seen the docket and know what he is being charged with? It's probably fraud.. because you can't enter laws that have been struck down on the docket

LTC Eugene Chu and the article says he was charged with aggravated assault.. which is a Florida state law... It's not even a federal case... making the whole stolen valor argument irrelevant... What does stolen valor have to do with him beating someone into the hospital?

LTC Eugene Chu so the order not dressing up as a navy seal can be over turned... As that doesn't vacate the assault charges.

The article says he was charged with aggravated assault... This literally has nothing to with stolen valor... Considering it is under the jurisdiction of local Florida law.
