Going to be moving cross country soon and I am upside down on my home. I will be attempting to rent but, fear of no takers and possibly having to pay two mortgages. (Not an Option)

Are there any Soldier programs to get me out of this mortgage without messing up my credit?

Branch did me good and am on a short suspense.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Contact your mortgage company, AER, Housing, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a property manager and a real estate agent ASAP.
Assistance programs for things like this are always changing and someone who knew everything last month may not know everything this month. Property manager will give you a good estimate on whether they can keep your house occupied, get a referral from housing. Real estate agent should know the ins and outs of short sales and other short and long term options as well as being able to give you a sold estimate of just what a short sale is going to leave you owing, again, housing should be able to give you a good referral for a selling agent.

Good luck. Move with a purpose.

SFC Humphrey, I agree with CW2 Evans on the point that he made. Contact your mortgage company and a real estate agent as soon as possible. I had a Soldier who had a house in Virginia, and was reassigned to Ft. Knox. Told him to find the real estate agent that sold him the house, and let him know that you want to either rent it out or sell it. Within two weeks, it was rented, the rent was given to the real estate agent, who placed the payment with the mortgage company. The mortgage company will also take care of any maintenance that may occur, so you won't have to travel across country every time. Give them a time line as well; but keep your mortgage company in the loop.
Hope this helps a wee bit; and good luck.
