The USS Detroit was christened and launched into the Menominee River in WI. 10/18/2014. The christening took place Saturday on the Menominee River at the Marinette Marine Corp. shipyard in Marinette, Wis.

Its home port will be in San Diego. The ship is capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots and can operate in water less than 20 feet deep.

I think 31-knots would be almost embarrassed by the attention .... but also proud knowing of this ship's fighting capability.
