Pentagon's $55 billion mystery plane is secret, but debate on cost is appearing

This sounds like something that would have been nice to have during the cold war, however I can't help but question the current requirement for such a bomber. Given our current arsenal of missiles and aircraft, is there really a capability gap which warrants spending this kind of money?

Do you know how much equipment ground troops could get for $55 billion?   I can't even imagine.
