Thinking about dropping a recruiter packet. What are some pros/cons from your experiences?

Gameplan/plan A: ETS from the army in my state of choice if I get it. While recruiting, I will get my foot in the door with the local populace/work force
If I do not get the state if choice/ plan B: embrace the suck, and enroll in college.
Plan A: florida
Plan B: using the map, Tennessee or somewhere in the south
*Married with no kids, none on the way or in the distant future*

You're putting a LOT of faith in USAREC giving you the exact spot you want. Just because you volunteer does NOT guarantee you get wherever you want. There were many people in my Recruiter course who Volunteered and were getting wazoo assignments. A guy literally volunteered thinking he'd get his choice of Florida....they assigned him Jackson, Michigan. You could end up ANYWHERE. Montana, Vermont, Arizona, Iowa....

Also I'm from jackson michigan lol. So I guess that wouldn't be to horrible. But I get what your saying.

Yeh, it's a wish list, but in the end it's needs of USAREC, plus they can use demographics to assign people to places. They even had a married couple whose stations were 100 miles apart...because they could in theory live smack in the middle at the MACP limit of 50 miles.
USAREC has also cut the DASR/Volunteer Recruiter assignments at the SORB. They'll do ya dirty and dangle stuff to try to get you to volunteer because once packet is accepted they own you for a good amount of time.

Also, been an e5 for 2 years. I have 2 years left on current contract.
I have 0 UCMJ actions, no tattoos, debts to a serious degree, basically the packet would be quick and simple (in theory)
