Ayurveda, also known as Ayurvedic Medicine, is the traditional medicine of India, which originated there over 5,000 years ago. Ayurveda emphasizes re-establishing balance in the body through diet, lifestyle, exercise, and body cleansing, and on the health of the mind, body, and spirit.

In North America, Ayurveda is considered a form of alternative medicine. Like traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda is a whole medical system, meaning that it is based on theories of health and illness and on methods of preventing and treating health conditions. You have to be very careful because some of the treatments may contain toxic metals !

I have spent my life in the medical field. First as a Diet aide then surgical tech, hospice caregiver and now as an EMT. Though I don't have personal expierence with Ayurvenda practices I do have some experiences with herbal medicine treatments. Some treatments work for some people some have little if any effect. For Americans at large I suggest eating a better balanced diet low in sugar and fat. Eat more plant based protiens and less meat. Drink more plain water and lower your salt intake. EXERCISE on a regular basis. Your health will improve and you will likely have less health issues. Cancers feed on sugar. Most illness can be prvented or lessened by changes to your diet AND lifestyle. Get more rest, eat better, drink more water and stop bad/unhealty practices as excessive alcohol consumption and using tobacco products. Start there.

From what I know/learned Ayurvedic treatments include
Diet: Recommendations are individualized to a person's dosha and the season. Foods can either balance or cause imbalance to each dosha. See a list of foods thought to balance each dosha.
Cleansing and detoxification: This may be done through fasting, enemas, diets, and body treatments.
Herbal medicine: Examples of Ayurvedic herbs are triphala, ashwaghanda, gotu kola, guggul, and boswellia.
Yoga
Meditation
Exercise: Individualized to a person's constitution
Massage: Medicated herbal oils are often used.

Dosa explination:According to Ayurveda, everything is composed of five elements: air, water, fire, earth, and space. These elements combine to form the three doshas, vata, kapha, and pitta, or metabolic types. In Ayurveda, doshas account for some of our individual differences.

Treatments are individual based and you basicly have to get an evaluation by a Ayurvedic practicineer before a treatment plan can be formulated for you.

SGT (Join to see) - My opinion is that many Cancers could/have been cured. The problem in the US is medicine and medical treatment/care is BIG BUSINESS. It's HIGHLY profitable. It's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY for FAR TOO MANY people involved in medical care and those who make medicine. That includes insurence companies.
