It depends on the public service sector. Military service is always the most honorable. Emergency services (Police, EMT, Fire) are right there with the military. Altruism in office, although noble, leads to corruption when party becomes more important than the people you are supposed to serve. Those that use political appointments and/or elections whether public office or government jobs for personal gain are scum.
