"Syrian Rebels" is not anything close to a monolithic group. Some of the groups that are opposed to or fighting the Assad regime are relatively moderate while others are hard line islamists.

Still, Daesh is far and away worse than anything we've seen, here is one glaring example.

Your question is a bit of trick because the differences are fluid and that is part of the problem. Kind of like pouring different color paints in a big bucket and asking what colors you see, while it is still being stirred?
