Is there any service member here who was discharged for refusing the COVID-19 shot and is attempting to re-enlist? I have a few questions for you….

From everything I've read, it'd be about the discharge and the separation code code given. Turns out, the government isn't just automatically upgrading everyone's discharge. The SM would have to submit for an upgrade. What other questions do you have?

There are probably several categories in this Human Resource dilemma. 1) The military dumped a lot of personnel they now cannot replace. 2) Of those personnel they dumped a group of them the DOD doesn't want back anyway. 3) Of those personnel the DOD dumped the vast majority of those they really do want back have moved on and landed on their feet, and are now privy to what they would be stepping back into (it's not like pursuing a brand new recruit).

I don't think the efforts to move the manpower needle are going to materially improve as a result of this reversal. It would seem, even in the DOD's best efforts to reverse course the actual administrative process to return is going be impractical to begin with and negate the whole intent (as I like to say, my greatest hurdle to success in the Army is the Army itself).

Perhaps, in the future, top tier decision makers will design policies that focus on mission and balance health risk needs (i.e., create a process that penalizes service members without kicking them out, while holding onto them for positions that would tolerate a lower degree of inoculations. I mean............ the Army didn't seem to care one bit I wasn't protected from Anthrax or Small Pox until I had to deploy. They left well enough alone, and if I refuse it THEN they would act against me. Otherwise they were happy to let soldiers remain unvaccinated so long as their positions didn't need it ).

SSG (Join to see) GREAT question, I look forward to watching this thread's responses.

PS, what station are you recruiting out of? And are you the service member trying to reenlist or are you trying to service others at the station?

I do a lot of remote processing of prior service members trying to reenlist across the country but I am a recruiter based out of Denham Springs, LA.
