The Army used to require any prior service that did not complete Army or Marine Corp basic training to attend BTC, regardless of the length of the break in service. The good news for you is that this year they went to this format for prior service. 6 APR 17 *****Attention all Prior Service and Sister Service (Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard) applicants*****

Effective immediately, the Army is instituting a 6-week Prior Service Basic Combat Training Course (PSBCT) in lieu of the standard 12-week Basic Training Course (BCT) for prior service applicants with more than a 3-year break-in-service OR sister service applicants having completed Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard Basic Training (regardless of the length in break-in-service). Prior Service applicants with less than a 3-year break-in-service OR those who have graduated Army BCT, Marine Corps BCT, Navy/Air Force Special Operations Training or Air Force Security Police Training are NOT required to attend Army BCT or PSBCT. Learn More Here: Prior Service Basic Training Course

I would expect it to be more physically challenging that Navy Recruit Training, but you won't need to swim as well.

WO1 (Join to see) - Benning is were they used to send the non-prior service guys with WOFT contracts, I went through OSUT with a couple even back when I was enlisted. This is pretty new, April of this year, so I have no idea if that immediately really means that they have set up the course yet or not. If you have to do all 12 weeks, don't sweat it. Use the time to get in shape and you wont have any problems. The older guys and prior service guys usually will get tapped for the leadership positions, which has both advantages and disadvantages. Ft Benning is the Infantry School, so you will get to see what the guys you will be supporting and flying around do for a living, which is an idea that I find pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the tips Captain,
I'll try to keep my head down but I've got a feeling that's not going to fly. And it would be nice if they did indeed have a PSBCT going for us already so I guess I'll just wait and find out about that.
