While they agree they won’t do anything because the Democrats like how big tech tends to always short change President Trump. Destroy your enemy at any cost. The Republicans aren’t much better. MHO

Social media needs to be regulated. The inconsistency on what is allowed and what is deleted is unbelievable. I believe power needs to be curbed but forcing companies to split up when they've been built from the ground up is unfair. I don't know when success through hard work became something to scorn but that right there is the difference between freedom to succeed and big brother not allowing it. What is it? Jealousy?

MSG Stan Hutchison I hear what you are saying.

I, personally, am not throwing bricks... merely stating a business fact when I said that Amazon is assisting in destroying brick and mortar stores. I do hold a majority of that responsibility on the consumer, as you mentioned. Cheap products, higher demand, etc. I'd prefer to buy only American, but in reality I'm a contributor to the Amazon growth. Hence why I don't throw bricks, don't want to be hypocritical.

Demanding and being entitled to a decent wage should come from the results of hard work and good output. It's not something I that should be handed to anyone just because. This is now going into work ethics and morals and past policies put into place making the getting of cheap products easier instead of first focusing on our own economy. But, another topic for another time.

I'm a business major and now going into education because I see what coddling students produces for the workplace. Self entitled and obtuse people who expect something for not working at it.

Again, mainly my opinion, but opinion from first hand experience.

PO2 Jamye Sarah Pankiw Wagner I know I'm dealing with the devil every time I buy from Amazon. Just when I think Bezos might not be that bad he says or does something that makes my head explode. For instance he backed candidates who were veterans in the midterm elections. Since then he has shown he is satan.

I'm a disabled vet because of exposure to toxic chemicals at my first duty station. Amazon is much easier for me to buy from. I also have a daughter and granddaughters in another state. As a prime member I can ship there for free. Have you mailed a package lately? A few months ago I sent one to them and it cost about $50 to ship.

I've tried every reading app. I can assure you kindle is absolutely the best. Bezos didn't steal any books. The publishers haven't figured out a lot of people feel a kindle book, or an ebook on any site, is not worth $10 to $16. A lot of authors have bought back the rights to their own books and moved to Amazon. Barry Eisler, a NYTIMES bestseller, explain on Goodreads it just made sense for him to do it. He could rewrite his books and publish them the way he wanted rather than having them published the way an editor decided they should be.

I'm of the generation which started working as soon as we turned 16. Most of us had paper routes or were babysitters before we were 16. Minimum wage was right around $2.00 when I got my first job. Fast food and stocking shelves were part time entry level jobs done by teens and we learned work ethic young. Most teens don't work today. I believe starting to work young is important because of what it teaches.

As far as brick and mortar stores, JC Penny and Sears use to do a lot of business through mail order. They let that slip when they started putting a store in every mall. They shot themselves in the foot with that one. If a company is doing a massive amount of business through mail order it's insanity to let that slide.

PO3 Patricia Miner I had a whole response typed out, but I can't disagree with anything you said.

I know you're not on social media, but I can guarantee you that there needs to be regulations to help protect those who utilize it.

Just circling back to original argument.

PO2 Jamye Sarah Pankiw Wagner I'm not on social media but I know enough about it to agree it needs regulation. There are trolls no matter where you post something. Even on here. It has to stop.

Dust off the Sherman Anti-Trust Act
Two main provisions that prohibit interferences with trade and economic competition and that make illegal the attempt to monopolize any part of trade or commerce.
The Internet is the railroad of the 1890s. It is the same issue. Now Amazon can strangle any business in their 'marketplace'. Ties between Video, Audio, books, shipping, payment, AWS.
Google and their control of YouTube and rule restrictions of 'content' even while they say they don't control content!
Microsoft put the browser right back into Windows 10, in the 90s, they had to separate it.
Netflix may be able to argue they are in a competitive market with all the streaming services.
