You have to get your commander's blessing and most units will make you come in to put in the time before you leave to make up for the drills you'll miss.

There's a former NG contractor in my unit that got out of drill for a while because he was deployed with the 160th. So I know it's possible, but it all depends on your unit. I would suggest talking to your CoC. Stress the fact that you will still be getting flight hours, and accomplishing likely more than you would deploying shadow with the NG. I'm RA 15w grey eagle FYI

I read somewhere that guard and reserve will not train on Grey Eagle. Do you know if this is true?
