I have seen one remake, and it just didn't cut it in my book. The crude technology and special effects in the original were part of the adventure. Just because you can use advanced technology to improve the cinematography doesn't mean you should.

Agreed - SFX is no substitute for good storytelling! ..something unfortunately a lot of movies can learn from!

LT John Chang - It could just be that I'm old. The younger folks may prefer all that video magic. I admit that I enjoy it in the new movies, but in remakes I feel it is taking something away, not adding.

SGT Robert Pryor - Dan and I talk about this "MTV effect" all the time. The actors look more attractive; the production looks more slick; but something is missing.. somehow the filmmaker hit all the right notes but what's playing lacks.. soul.
