Wondering who is providing leadership to our youth?  What is your position and how long have you been a leader?  What unit?

I currently serve as president of Longhouse Council, BSA, in upstate and northern NY including Ft. Drum. I have two sons in the program and have been active in BSA and Order of the Arrow activities at the regional and national level. At the 2013 National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve in West Virginia I served on the national media team with a dual assignment as liaison to the West Virginia National Guard because I "spoke the language". I spoke the military language, not sure I spoke "West Virginian" fluently.

COL Lester and his team of military support were absolutely fantastic to work with.

Locally the 10th Mountain is very supportive of Scouting and especially our Pack 26/Troop 26 on post. Those units and Scouting has been the one constant for the kids involved as their Dads are frequently deployed.

The 174th Attack Wing in Syracuse and Echo Company of the 4th LAR USMC are great partners for program support. We appreciate our military neighbors and have many moms and dads serving or whom have served. In 2011 we honored the U.S. Military at our "Boypower Dinner", one of the largest Scouting dinners in the nation. 4-star General Barry McCaffrey was our speaker that year, he was fantastic and very personable. When he saw Scouts from Troop 152 lashing a gateway into the banquet hall he got down on all fours and started lashing logs and tying knots like he was 15-year old at camp.

Here is the highlight video where we honored the military: https://youtu.be/x85mrJ94Hmo
