What is the process for prior marine still on IRR joining active military?

My husband got out of the marines in 2017 and is now looking to go active army. I'm reading a lot of different things on how it's harder for prior service to go active. Is this true? He completed his 4 years and is still on IRR but his recruiter is requesting for him to be released, which according to him will be easy. We are excited about this change but I don't want to get our hopes up. Please give me some insight. Thank you in advance!

Just requires a conditional release on a DD368 to get released from the IRR, the Army recruiter will know where to submit it to. Provided he is otherwise qualified, he will be restricted to enlistment options dictated by HRC Prior Service Business rules.

His recruiter has submitted to have him released already and he told him he’s at the needs of the army. He was talking about him going to meps this Friday but my husband is having issues getting his transcripts so we’re thinking it’s going to get pushed back.

If his record was spotless, he requires no waivers and there were no medical issues, there is a good chance he would be accepted.

Everything is great. My only concern is that he filed for disability through the VA and the letter he got said "not service connected". I thought it was 0% but I just confirmed with him. I'm afraid of that ruining his chances.

That simply means that whatever ails him is not related to his prior service. Unless it is an injury or illness that otherwise disqualifies him he has no concerns. If he has an illness or injury that will impede his performance he owes it to the Army and you to let them know, otherwise he could jeopardize his health or the health of his fellow Soldiers. It is very easy to get them released from the IRR. It sounds like he got out honorably and without any medical problems. Chances are he has an RE Code of 1 which will make it very easy for him to get back in. It's just a pain building his prior service in his packet but nothing too crazy.

SFC (Join to see) 0% means there is a service connected medical condition, but it isn't disabling to the point where it is compensable.

1SG (Join to see) - Now that you brought that up, I believe everything was not service connected, instead of 0%. I'll have to check with him but I'm pretty sure that's what the paper stated.
