This was a mistake on the part of the Miss America organization.

Miss America is a JOB. There are duties and responsibilities that come with the tiara. Duties and responsibilities which are not compatible with active duty military time commitments.

Don't get me wrong, she appears to be a very well qualified candidate. Driven, intelligent, well-spoken, talented, and compassionate. Not to mention (obviously) physically attractive. But her focus needs to be on her position as a defender of our nation, not on advancing the goals of Miss America, Inc.
