It has always been my thought that leaders should check themselves by reviewing there next phase when in training (Academy’s), again when assigned by listening and watching the reactions of those around you, and of course by continuing conversations with mentors, peers and those that aren’t afraid to tell you the truth.
It is an evolution, to think that what got you to your first leadership position will carry you throughout is naive.
Anyway, we must continue to grow and develop.

Great comments CSM. Thanks. You are correct in identifying this is a good article for those in their first few years of a leadership position. Sometimes it's good to remind ourselves of basics because we lose focus. I was blessed in my career with some very good people, and cursed with some very bad, as we all have. I like to think I got it right by people I formerly supervised calling me up for advise some 20 years after I was through being their supervisor in state service. Sometimes it's good to catch up after not hearing from someone in a few years.

It sounds very much like you did it right. I like to think I got a thing or two correct. It is always the greatest compliment when our old Soldiers seek us out. Take care. SFC (Join to see)

CSM Darieus ZaGara - I am sure you got many things correct. We know we are getting old when we run out of people to call for advise, and our phones start ringing for our opinions. I guess it is how things are. :)

Yes. It takes time though. I tell everyone that we all interview 365 days a year. I once took a leadership course that asked what was the difference between authority versus power. As a Lieutenant I had the authority and it was recognized by my troops. I had a Chief who wielded a great deal of power based on authority and his power was based on rank and bolstered by years of experience and a superior consistent demonstration of judgement. In time, I also earned that power as well as respect. Is there a reset button, yes there is, but it takes time.

It’s the way of the world sir, we learn and we pass along what we learned to be true.

There is no reset for the current administration. It is soooo good the see the crisis at the southern border, the growth in government, the rise in violence, debt and gas prices.
It’s balls out for the Socialists who hate America. What we need now is more CRT and money sent to the extreme groups to create even more division and racism.
