I am at my current duty station going on 4 years this July. It’s been nice, but I’m ready to go somewhere else. However, due to family situation I need to stay CONUS. The issue is I went to my retention nco and he says there is nothing for my mos and rank. Is there a way I can find out if I can go anywhere before My ets date?

If you're in your reenlistment window you can go to your Career Counselor and request up to two duty locations from HRC. HRC will either give you one of them or make a counter offer. Then you reenlist for the assignment. If you're not in your reenlistment window then there's nothing to do but wait

I’d recommend going to see your Battalion career counselor. If your within 15 months of your ets date, you could always do an option 5 conus station of choice reenlistment. If you go with that your career counselor will send up a hotline to hrc and they either give you your choice or counter with some other assignments that are available.

All you can do is check regularly with retention- openings come and go quickly.

Thanks for the info SGM. I’ll keep checking. I’m just ready to go somewhere new and it seems strange to me that, of all the bases in CONUS, not a single one has an opening for an SPC(P) 91D. Then again, I don’t know how retention and reenlistment works “behind the scenes”.
