How important is having a sense of Mission and Purpose for Veterans and Service Members after transitioning to civilian careers?

In everyday society, having a sense of purpose is crucial. If you have no purpose, you risk having no drive to do anything. The sense of mission goes along with that.

PO3 Galon Miller Having a sense of Mission is very important. It is the difference between just receiving a paycheck and having a useful purpose. When I was I discharged, I moved to the Houston area with a goal of working and going to school, followed by working for the space program. I obtained my degree and worked on the Space Shuttle program from start to finish. This was my purpose and was a challenging and rewarding career.
