What changes are needed to ensure soldiers receive necessary healthcare?

Privatize the VA. Fire and Jail anyone involved in the delays that resulted in the deaths or suffering of a vet. Collect back the bonuses of those who were apart of it. Make it public and make it very painful for future dirt bags to see what their criminal dereliction will bring them.

If the PCM know about a permanent profile then annotate it to start an MEB. The unit is selfish for deploying someone who is hurt and in a lot of pain. This shows a true lack of caring for the troops. Sometimes the biggest advocate is you.

He's in the MEB process now finally. I am keeping in touch because I want to ensure that he is treated fairly and equitably But the bonus was that my husband was just through this recently but also had been Cadre at the WTU and I was as involved as I could be. I know where to check regs (thanks to my husband being pretty proficient at it as well but not wanting to always answer my question ! lol And i have had to endure some of my own personal hardship (totally not related) so that I was familiar with the steps to take in getting assistance when things are not being done properly and someone is being treated unfairly. Past experiences can always help if we learn from them !

SGT Sara Hendrix - I would look at the six month limitation for his MEB. It just does not seem realistic to give a time limit of 6 months.

CPT Joseph K Murdock - The General did state that he would re-evaluate the situation at the 5 and a half month mark to see if he needed to be extended beyond that. It was not a given that 6 months would be the end limit.

I think that there are many veterans who were in theater of war but because they did not see combat they are marginalized. The threat of violence affects all of us. In desert storm I lost so much weight I didn't fit into my uniform. Because we are military we suck it up. Doctors need to realize that veterans are still sucking it up in the civilian life. If any veteran, combat- non combat doctors should address their claims. I go to the V.A and see doctors that would rather diagnose you as having common ailments than seriously checking further: we lose people because the V.A would rather turn a blind eye to vets suffering. In the corps I had my knee reconstructed denied benefits, but a guy who just complained of pain got benefits. Denials base on if the doctor likes you.

I agree whole heartedly. I am of the mindset that our Veterans have been treated poorly and do not deserve such treatment. I am sure that you also saw Soldiers while on Active duty who were dissuaded from seeking care? And those who were true malingerer's . My concern is definitely that the care should be provided adequately while the Soldier's injury or ailment is not as serious as if it is ignored and then becomes much greater in comparison. The problem is that most of the infantry/ combat units will come down on soldiers who have been given a profile so the good soldiers are reluctant to seek that. If you have a moment, please read the article I wrote which discusses a situation where a soldier was being pushed out with out treatment for his two broken feet which occurred on Deployments.

We're the surgeries done while in or out of service? It's obvious our humping gear punishes our knees. Bogus. The V.A doctors try to deny not approve claims.
