Capt Gregory Prickett - a social justice warrior, a snowflake, didn't like the decision? You know who really didn't like that decision? The victim and the victim's family; nor did they appreciate the justification the judge presented in court during sentencing. In their minds, it was an insult.
Not following the race, I can only speculate if they questioned his court records to determine if this guy Brock wasn't the only example of what looked like implicit bias. Oh I also believe the community of snowflakes also went after the prosecutors and DA that allowed such a light sentencing recommendation to be presented. Inequality in sentencing for similar crimes is being challenged; that's what happened.

MAJ James Woods - the victim and the family never like a decision like that, but they don't get to hang someone because it happened to their family member.

The snowflake was Dr. Michelle Dauber, a non-lawyer law professor, whose focus is rape culture and sociology. The prosecutors objected to the sentencing recommendation, but they have no control over that, as that department doesn't work for the DA, nor does the DA present the pre-sentencing report to the court. As a matter of fact, the prosecutors in the case publicly stated that recalling Judge Persky would be a mistake and would set a bad precedent.

This is not a matter of inequality of the sentence, this is a matter that the mob did not think the sentence was severe enough. OK, if that's the case, change the law, but you don't punish a judge for acting within the law.

Capt Gregory Prickett - The "mob" as you put it didn't think the sentence was severe enough because of the inequality of implicit bias from the judge's own statements. The "mob" clearly felt if this young Stanford student had been a Black athlete not of entitled family background the recommendation and final sentencing would've been clearly different for the same crime.
The prosecutors objected to the recommendation yet defended the judge? The prosecutors didn't work for the DA? The DA didn't present the pre-sentencing report? Ok now I'm confused. Where did the recommendation come from and who other than the defense attorney and judge supported it?

MAJ James Woods - Prosecutors do work for the DA. The probation department prepares the pre-sentencing report and provides it to the court, and they do not work for the DA, nor does the DA have approval authority over the report.

The judge accepted the report from that governmental agency and sentenced him in accordance with those recommendations. The judge wasn't a "supporter" of the PSI, and doesn't have to be. If there was bias, it wasn't from the judge, it was from the probation department.

Finally, yes, the DA objected to the PSI, but also defended the judge on the recall issue. The DA (Jeff Rosen) handled it appropriately, he did not like the sentence, but opposed the recall, preferring instead to go to the legislature and get them to fix the law. Dauber, on the other hand, just wanted to lead the mob.
