Can someone explain the video? It looks like a pass in review. But with ships.

LT Brad McInnis - I never got to do any SPIE rigging but would love to. The only thing better than flying in and aircraft is flying outside of it!

MAJ (Join to see) Looks like this may have been a Tiger Cruise, which is when family members can ride the ship for a few days. For example ships returning to San Diego from a WESTPAC may pick up family members in Pearl Harbor to ride the rest of the way back. This would of been a "show" for them.

MAJ (Join to see) - If you look at the flight deck, there are a lot of Civilians, so I too think it was a tiger cruise for family.

LT Brad McInnis I too miss the high seas. I never encountered seas that I would consider too rough! I was on USS Bainbridge CGN-25 and we rode out Hurricane Gloria off the coast of Virginia. 50 Foot swells and blue water all the way to the Bridge level. 30-35 degree rolls and on one of those rolls while OOD I was on a bridge wing looked aft and saw the MK-46 Triple tube launcher on the 01 level go under water. There was little to no standing on the bridge deck, one had to hold on to the marlin-spiked Cable stretched the entire width of the Bridge and we hung like pendulums. My state room was on the 04 level and I had to belt myself into my rack. Slept like a baby! And on the same ship we made a North Atlantic cruise, and although there was no hurricane, the was no shortage of huge waves! I do miss heavy seas!

SN Greg Wright - Funny you should say that, In the video you posted with the song, did you notice there was one huge huge wave that caused spray and white water up and over the ships stack. That salt water can't be doing the engine any good! Maybe they have baffles to divert salt water & spray within the stack?

CWO3 Dennis M. - With the heat coming from the turbine exhaust, any water would have evaporated. The air intakes is what take a lot of maintenance. The Engineers have to go into those after pulling into port and clean them out with fresh water.
