On April 14, 1471, during the Wars of the Roses, the Battle of Barnet took place. The Yorkists defeated the Lancastrians and killed the Earl of Warwick, the Kingmaker. Most of the Lancastrians were depleted and would be soundly defeated at the Battle of Tewkesbury in early May.

Just on battle of many, yet the most costly for the Lancasterian forces.
