I've heard rumblings that AI may threaten the jobs of professional writers like myself.
I doubt that AI can ever take the jobs of the best writers, although it can do a better job than many mediocre writers, for some tasks.
One issue is that AI works from existing data sets, which makes it pretty hard for it to create anything truly new.
Perhaps more relevantly in today's legal landscape, AI is often caught plagiarizing human authors.
As an excellent human writer with integrity and sound scholarly habits, that's one problem you're guaranteed not to have when you hire me.

It'll be a long time before an AI can manufacture literature that matches what publishers are willing to invest in. Most talented human writers can barely get published.
AI being able to compose an obituary is coming around the corner. But composing anything beyond basic three-act narrative will be decades from now.
