I enjoyed my time at Camp Howze, and I guess I'll never forget it ... back in the 1980s. We were close enough to the DMZ to be concerned and have a very interesting job, but far enough away to also have a good time when it was quittin' time.

MAJ David Wallace, I was one of the CI guys on Camp Howze. I was technically with the 102d MI Bn, but I was attached to the 3rd Brigade for CI support. Our office was across the road from Brigade HQ.

I was assigned to Camp Howze with the 1/32nd Infantry from 77-78. it seemed that everywhere was up hill. We lived through many alerts, border breaches, shot down helicopters. We also pulled armed patrols up at OPs Collier and Ouellette.

June 54 to Sep 55. 16 months under canvas on a folding cot. At Camp Casey, Sep 54 to Sep 55, I was pleased to be able to walk less than 1 klic to the Engineer shower point. As 7th ID, Signal Co wire maintenance troops we often had wire "outages" that required we take a jeep to repair the "problem anywhere in the 7th ID area.
