Today, I had the amazing honor to witness the presentation of the Distinguished Service Cross to the family of SSG Stevon A. Booker who was KIA on 5 April 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving as a Tank Commander with A Co, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor, 3rd Infantry Division, SSG Booker left the safety of his tank and started to engage the enemy with his M4 once his 50 cal was rendered unserviceable.

It was truly an honor to stand with fellow Veterans and Service Members here in Pittsburgh to remember the amazing heroism that SSG Booker demonstrated on this day 16 years ago.
