This is a critical issue and one the US needs to ready to address... are we willing to send military forces to the defense of Taiwan if China moves to take it by force... the is more important than Russia... Russia...Russia!

I am just curious how the argument for military intervention is made to the American people. We are siding with Taiwan which is populated by descendants of the losing side of the Civil War in China that occupy an Island that does not even belong to them? How is that going to convince Americans we should be taking sides here? We do at least need to face the fact that our alliance with Taiwan is a relic of the Cold War and we cannot make a convincing argument why the people shouldn't be part of mainland China. Though I would seperate out the native Taiwanese and give them their Island back.
