I am due to pcs to Fort Hood this fall. I am going to 2-291 AV. Is it a decent unit? Will they be deploying soon?

Fort Hood is not as bad as people make it out to be. It is within driving distance to DFW, and Austin, and there is plenty to do here. There is not a single army base that's without a bad area so ignore all the noise and enjoy it.

I was at Ft Hood back in 84 - 85 and it was an open post then.. But.. Like any Army post I was at.. It has the best of both worlds.. It's what YOU make it... It has lots ot offer if you get out and do things.. TX has a rich history and lots of fun places to go see.. Enjoy it with your family when ever possible... Have a GREAT TOUR!!! :)
