I just got the call that they are getting me in an earlier class seat, which is awesome! However, what should really focus in on to make sure mentally I am prepared for the course. I am well aware of the weather this time of the year and live up north, so that is not a worry. But for the course; what specifically could I focus on to get ready? Also, any insight on what to expect due to COVID restrictions?

On a side note, I have been a squad leader for some time now; how much does TLP and thing like Drill and Ceremony play in ALC these days?

It's been a while since I've been to ALC but Brush up on your demo calcs... But remember you're there to learn, it's the best time to ask questions and not be afraid of not knowing the answer because you are with peers. Be ready to write a few papers but it's really not a difficult class at all. As far as drill and ceremony, I do remember having to lead the march to and from class, and you have to lead PT. Go over that as well!

Troops Leading Procedures is paramount. Know them and how to apply them at your level.

I would brush up on all the 2-4 skill level tasks for engineering across mobility, counter mobility, and survivability. Depending on the type of unit you are in, you may not have had to do project estimates, bridging, or demo, all of which should be in this phase.

CSM William Everroad thank you for the advice, CSM. I am in a sapper unit, and have spent my entire career in line units. So hopefully that has helped me prepare. Appreciate the time.

SSG (Join to see) I was in the same boat. I had no idea about bridging or construction until BNCOC. I didn't do bad, but it was one thing I could have prepared for if I had known we were going to go over it in the course.

I am a bit out of touch with the new terminology. I went through 12B way way back in 84. Like everything else in the military. You assess, adjust and attack again. If ALC is the new terminology for BNOC. I will say this. I had a blast during 12B BNOC. Always fun blowing stuff up

What is ANCOC called these days? I went back in 05 as a SSG but was medically retired before being promoted.
