I'm 2 months and 20 days away from graduation in the 68C program (not that I'm counting...). Did my phase 1 at Ft Sam Houston, where everyone does it, and my phase 2 at JBLM in Washington. I wouldn't consider it "grueling", especially since you have prior military service. A lot of the people coming into the training who didn't succeed are straight out of high school and didn't have the discipline required to focus on the material that needs to be learned. As long as you pay attention in class and study a little on your off time, you will succeed. Every phase 2 site operates differently, with variances in schedules. Regardless, you will spend about half your time in the classroom "didactic" and half in clinical working in a hospital. I can't speak yet first hand for the opportunities and career advancement moving forward with the MOS, but we are all told that there is lots of opportunity due to the shortage of 68Cs and the flexibility of the MOS. You graduate the course with an LPN/LVN license, which you can carry into the civilian world for the rest of your life as long as you keep it current.

I hope you consider attending this school. Check the course requirements and be prepared to meet them if you've not already done so. This program is a stepping stone, for some simple advancement. Others have gone on to more academic professions; RN, M.D., OT, PT and PA's. I highly recommend you thinking about accepting the challenges.
Good luck in whatever path you may chose.

It's a good career choice. The school can sound long but once you make it to phase 2 it will feel more like a routine than a military school. It goes by quick.
