There is no justice in the Michigan Army National Guard. Why, do you ask? It's simple: How can Major General (MG) Gregory Vadnais fire one employee as punishment for allegedly stealing US Government property, while at the same time promoting another employee who swore under oath to participating in the same alleged theft? Don't believe it's true? Well...it is. General Vadnais has just notified Mr. Joe Smock that he is being terminated from his National Guard technician position for allegedly stealing wood purchased with US Government money. At the same time, General Vadnais has seen fit to promote Mr. Joel Mack to a National Guard technician supervisor position even though Mr. Mack testified under oath that he participated in committing the same theft Mr. Smock was terminated for from the MATES facility in Grayling, Michigan. In fact, it was Mr. Mack's testimony which MG Vadnais relied upon as the basis for terminating Mr. Smock, who by the way has consistently denied stealing any US Government property, whatsoever, and which there was never any direct evidence uncovered after a 5-month investigation to support the allegation that Mr. Smock actually stole any wood (or anything else for that matter). So, to recap...Joel Mack testified under oath that he willingly helped Joe Smock steal US Government property. Joe Smock denied ever stealing any property. The result: the employee who denied any criminal wrongdoing and was never provided any evidence against (Smock) has been terminated. The employee who admitted to actively participating in the criminal act of theft (Mack) has now been promoted to a supervisory position within the Michigan Army National Guard. Justice? You be the judge...

Sounds like something that should have gone to the NG IG, not RP, nothing can be done here. If this is the way you lay it out, it should be a slam dunk. Between the NG and the Governors office, this should be handled appropriately.
