Hey everyone. This week my grandmother passed away at the age of 87 years old. She led a great life and it was a nice few days of remembrance for someone who has given so much to so many others. Well, now it is time to focus in on my grandfather who will not be able to function in their home a lone. My family has been looking for some information about the VA nursing home. We are in the beginning of researching this information and I thought I would turn to the RP family for any help.

My grandpa is a World War II veteran.

Again, we are very early in our research process and thought perhaps someone can give us some inside perspective on this.

As always, thanks in advance.

Hi Nate--I'm really sorry to hear about your grandmother. Not sure if it might be of any use, but I just posted an article we put out on nursing home decisions/decision-making; which might be of use to your grandfather. http://prismhealthadvocates.com/de-mystifying-the-hunt-for-assisted-living-when-and-how-to-choose-the-right-facility/ While its not specifically focused on military nursing homes, the decision-making process is pretty similar. We're also always happy to do a free 30min discussion/consultation and might be able to come up with some suggestions for you guys: + [login to see]

State Soldiers homes vary state to state, some are better than others. The one here in western Mass is amazing.

What part of the country are you in? You should be able do some significant research at http://www.va.gov and just using Google.

Thank you. Just found that site and will be starting the research. I am in Iowa but have family in Minnesota and Illinois as well.

I guess now if anyone has more personal experiences Id like to hear them.
