I got a hot news flash for you Lt. Col. Brown; the USMC has gotten politically correct too. They hide it under a layer of bluster.

The Marines place a high value on leadership from the NCO ranks up to general officers. They know that leadership makes the difference. They are also willing to do the missions others may not want to do or have the ability to do. It is not an accident Marines have risen to the top. That doesn't mean there are not great leaders in the other branches but the Marines have a no nonsense, get it done approach that is needed in Washington DC.

Do you think, for example, Mattis gives a rat's ass what politicians might think of him? No is the answer to that question. He will do what is needed to create and sustain the most lethal force possible and let the chips fall where they may. He has no political ambition whatsoever.

The sentence that struck me in that article was, “Lionhearted Marines died in droves during both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.” Hardly a ringing endorsement of the USMC.

While Marines may die, they took many of the enemy with them. That is the point of a fight? Look at the casualty rate on D-Day for the Army. They did well, but there were apx 5K casualties.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint my point was that would hardly be a ringing endorsement for any normal, sane person to join them. Of course normal and sane aren’t adjectives used to describe most Marines.
