Been thinking about transitioning to WO, I read the requirements that you must have before you drop the packet, my question is am I too young in the Army to get picked up? For context just pinned E-6 last year but have been in for 6 years as of oct 2023

SSG (Join to see), you appear to meet all the minimum criteria (assuming you have two years of documented experience on your NCOERS), and I've known a number of junior E-6s that have gone through WOC, but there's really not enough information to go on. It's not so much a matter of "seasoning", but rather how you present as a whole picture.

A long work experience in performing related activities is one way to show the selection board that you will be successful as a 915A. Another is to show education and skills that are applicable to the career field. Do you have additional qualifications that would reflect favorably on your application (especially any listed under the "Preferred Qualifications" for a 915A*)? Make sure you include them or any other related certifications, training, or achievements that you have earned.

Transitioning to WO is like going through OCS - it's a numbers game for those that make it through the screening criteria. I couldn't find the stats for FY23 (not posted yet) nor specifically for a 915A, but for FY22, the Army met 99% of their recruiting goal and in FY21, they were at 149%. That means they could be a lot more selective about who they are accepting in FY21 compared to FY22.

So, the real answer is going to be, "you won't know until you submit your packet". While it appears it will make it through the screening criteria, there are too many factors related to your background and what the mission numbers looking like for WO to give you even a good SWAG.

Of course, strong evaluations showing that your leaders are impressed with you will always be in your favor - skills and education can be taught, but it's much harder to bring out strong leadership/supervisory potential if it's not there already.

IF you aren't accepted when you submit your packet, then plan out your resubmission for next year. Looks at the preferred qualifications on the USAREC site and the credentialing page for the 915A on COOL*. Start working on getting a few of them under your belt so you "pad your resume".

I was going to suggest going through Army e-Learning as well for on-line certifications, but I just found out that they did away with the program as of 29 FEB 24*! Look though the training available in ALMS, JKO, etc. as well.

Good Luck!

Drop your packet! Let the board decide. Get all your documents lined up. Make sure you can pass the WOCs physical. Is your gt score 110 plus? Please feel free to message me with any questions.
