I was stationed at Eglin and Hurlburt for most of my time. Get a boat as soon as you get down there. Volunteer as much as you can, as Hurlburt Field has their reach in everything SPEC OPS for opportunity.

Start asking your new unit about where you want to live now. Traffic is a bitch from several different directions because of the massive base and the intercostal and bay. Crestview is a bit of a haul and it takes you away from the beach and water. Spring break is also a pain but lots of fun with all the different colleges rotating in and out for weeks. I lived in down town FWB, on the bay, so I had fairly decent access to Eglin and Hurlburt. I know a lot of the SFG troops live up towards crestview and, if I remember right, their group is located closer to Hurlburt, so you might want to look towards Navarre beach, just prepare for shift change traffic on 98.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

You can try searching for forums or social media groups where military members gather to discuss their experiences. Additionally, you could try contacting the public affairs office at 7th SFG to see if they can provide you with any information or put you in touch with someone who could give you more information about the work/life of a 35F Sergeant in that unit.

Jump on it. Yes, there will be the mundane task of the 35F that you will find everywhere else, but there will be opportunities that you will not get everywhere else.

Enjoy this decision -- and good luck.
