I used to think this was the case. But the more I see around the military there is a lot of bad and toxic leadership. So my question is it better leadership making better soldiers or the bad leadership making better soldiers? Thoughts?

Bad leaders create bad Soldiers, who in turn eventually become bad leaders, who create more generations of bad Soldiers, and the cycle perpetuates ad infinitum...

No, but it you set a proper example, someone will notice and take note. You're not going to be able to save em all, but if you can get one down the right path, you've done your job. You should be the example they use and aspire to be.

There will always be good and bad Soldiers regardless of the leadership they have.

I certainly think there is a direct correlation to good leadership and better soldiers. Better leaders will have better followers and side effects like boosted morale will happen. If your boss sucks, you may not want to come to work. I've worked for some really great professionals and it always made me keep motivated and on track.
