The #1 mistake people make in filing their taxes is NOT FILING them. LOL
Didn't see this answer coming, huh? Well, neither did I. It seems there are a whole lot of people who don't bother to file their tax returns.
Here is a list of the top 9 reasons of mistakes made on filing taxes.
Tax season is right around the corner....are you ready?
Don't be one of these reasons.

The easiest way to file is by using tax software; it covers ALL the bases by asking questions as you go along and all you do is fill in the correct numbers. If you don't have the numbers handy at least you know what information you need to find.
Start early and it is a no-sweat operation.

Capt Seid Waddell yep, I agree. I've used Turbo tax for the past ten years or so.

Sgt Kelli Mays, I started with the Andrew Tobias' TaxCut package maybe 30 years ago and kept with them as they were sold to larger corporations. The package is now owned by H&R Block and goes by the H&R Block name.

Every year they get better and easier to use; I use them for both my business and personal accounts.

I eFile through H&R Block and have the refunds sent directly into my checking account. This year both State and Federal refunds cleared in about a week; it used to take six weeks or more when I filed paper returns.

Capt. Seid Waddell - I have a rather complicated tax return and that is exactly what I do, and to date, no problems

This is why my Uncle does my taxes. He is not only an accountant with over 40 years of experience, but he's also family so he's not going to rip me off or get me audited.

I'm married, have a kid, and own a house. Turbo Tax wouldn't work for me I don't think! :)
