I stumbled upon this link today. I read the whole article and found it very fitting, especially to those who are struggling with ways to deal with issues like PTSD and effects of other trauma. Take a moment and give it a read. What do you think?

That Voice in the Dark... it is your old self wrestling with what you could have done differently.
It haunts, because it can never be placated with reason.
It eats at the present, taking time away from the now to feed a past that won't rest.
In a present where there are no enemies, you make enemies out of friends, or wives, or yourself.
And the Voice in the Dark continues to whisper, because eating your own doesn't satisfy it.

You must find your calm, your focus. There are things in the present that demand your time and attention.
Let the Voice have his day on Memorial Day. Pour a drink for a fallen brother. Then get up from that knee and own today.

I like to think one needs to fill the heart and mind with love, thereby displacing the darkness that often befell veterans.

I think this could be another illustration of the Profound Pseudo-bulls**t in recently conducted research.
