One of the most interesting things of the about the new expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe is that they are story based. Each new movie, or series is based not on a character but on a genre.

Examples include Heists (Ant Man), Space Operas (Guardians of the Galaxy), Spy Dramas (Captain America: Winter Soldier & Agents of Shield), and Fantasy (Thor).

Their most recent series Jessica Jones is along the veins of a Detective Story.

The reason I'm recommending this show however is because of the running theme of PTS(D) which is embedded in the show... And it runs deep.

The show is on Netflix, has thirteen episodes (13), and is the darkest of MCU products to date. It is definitely worth watching.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS I was surprised at how dark it was. They really didn't pull any punches, and it was FANTASTIC. It's real-world emotions, and all the complexity that makes up human beings....not just the fairy and unicorns part, like you get in most super-hero fare.

I couldn't agree with you more, it's excellent, and I would recommend it to anyone (age-appropriate, of course).

I've watched the first 8 episodes, Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS, and you are definitely right on the money. If you started watching thinking this was going to be a typical "Super-hero" series then this probably isn't what you were expecting. A semi-alcoholic female private eye, super-hero with PTSD, chasing a well to do psycho who enjoys pushing everyone around him to the brink of murder (or suicide), all through the streets on New York's "Hell's Kitchen", is the mix that keeps this story going. As you said, definitely worth watching !!

I had to take a breather on this one after a few episodes rather than watch straight through. This one pegged the meter hard, and didn't let up.

If you enjoyed the show and want to enjoy the comic book, here's a starting point: https://www.comixology.com/Jessica-Jones-Alias-Vol-1/digital-comic/264077?ref=c2VhcmNoL2luZGV4L2Rlc2t0b3Avc2xpZGVyTGlzdC9pdGVtU2xpZGVy

Written by a fairly legendary comic writer.
