Which old deactivated unit(s) would you want to serve with if they were still active today?

Did you have a family member serve with a unit that deactivated years or even a few decades ago that you would have been proud to also served with. Maybe you just like the history of the unit in general and always wanted or thought it would be great to be a part of it.
This also can be a decommissioned ship/sub or aircraft.
Here are some examples:

Being that I was a signalman, I would have to say it would be a thrill to serve aboard USS Long Beach, as her signal-bridge was probably one of the highest aside one for a carrier

USS Long Bitch she was in Dry Dock catecorner from us in Bremerton, My EWs sent me over to pick up a Classified Instruction since I was a Courier. Got to the Q-Deck had them buzz Electronic Warfare to have someone escort me, I asked the OOD where they were located, He pointed Straight Up and said O-10 level. I about crapped myself. 10 stories up in the air and your office SM3 Packman must have been the flying bridge 11 stories up.

I'br toured the bridge/island of the Midway (which, as you probably know, is now a museum here in San Diego) and it is *very* high, but I'm sure I would have gotten used to it!

My very first unit in the Army. 64th Ordinance Company, Fischbach, Germany. It was at the time a special weapons storage and maintenance unit and was located in a relatively remote area of Germany. It was part of the 59th Ordinance Brigade which was at the time, the largest Brigade in the Army at the time with units all over the world and headquartered in Permasans Germany. At the time I thought it was a miserable assignment, but age and experience makes one wiser. I learned a lot there, developed some very close friendships and grew personally and professionally and would gladly return to the unit again.

That unit was right down the road from me when I served with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. Passed it each time we ran down the road during PT.

Correct sir, now that they've deactivated 4th, they gave the area to 2nd. However they kept the 506th active though. 1/506 is now part of 1BCT and 2/506 is part of 3rd

I was in 1-101st AVN BN and deployed with 101 CAB in 2007. I saw in the Army Times last year that 4th BDE was going away.
