What is the process for Green to Gold or OCS for Army Reserve Soldiers?

You cannot do Green to Gold as a USAR Soldier. That is only for active duty Soldiers. However, you can enroll in ROTC as a USAR Soldier and contract with them to become an officer. You would need at least two years of college left to complete the program. There are also specific scholarships for USAR Soldiers that guarantee commissioning as an officer in the Reserve. You can go to http://www.army.com/rotc to see what schools have ROTC if you are not sure. If you have less than 2 years of college, you might want to look at OCS. A career counselor should be able to help out. If you have any specific questions about ROTC, let me know as that is my job now.

I thought the same thing Sir, as far as green to gold being for AD but there was a soldier in my last unit, USAR, who was recommended by the commander to do green to gold. I checked and rechecked to make sure that I was hearing the right thing and it was confirmed by different SM's, those who would know thing like that, that it was true. I'm lost.
I looked into ROTC but after 2 years of being Cadre for their CST at Knox and seeing as I already have my MS, I'll pass on that. I know that OCS is another option too Sir. Thank you!

Green to Gold is an Active Program in the reserves the same program is called Simultaneous Membership Program, the main difference is pay. G2G you collect your enlisted pay while in college and get commissioned AD. Reserve SMP program you can go either Active or Reserve and you get the enhanced ROTC benefits.

I'll double check again with the SM but I am more than certain that they all said G2G. Maybe they were all mixed up in their thinking but it came from the commander as that.

I think that I am going to go OCS Sir. I just completed my Master's in 2014 and I really don't want to go through school again with kids. Not to put the program down but I have spent the past 2 years on AD at Ft. Knox to execute the summer cadet training for the students on break and the things that I have seen/heard/learned. I am the one not so old person who doesn't like being around a bunch of kids. I just don't feel up to going through the program for a 3rd degree. I don't know. I probably sound like a baby right now.

The USAR has a direction commission program. You need to talk with a career counselor.

The Direct (not direction, I know typo) Commission program is a great program (speaking from experience and not wanting to deal with OCS and the majority of youngsters). Talk to a Special Missions Retention NCO for more details. If you don't know who your Special Missions Retention NCO is...talk to your Retention NCO. It's a tough program to get approved in but it doesn't hurt to apply!

CPT (Join to see) - My mistake, didn't see you wanted to go from RC to AC. The Direct Commission program won't work for you. Sorry about that!
