Christians Pray for Obama’s Death

Georgia Senator David Perdue jokingly advised attendees at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference to pray for President Obama as Psalm 109:8 says: “May his days be short.”

The Psalm 109:8 is on conservative Christian bumper stickers. The relevant lines are:

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
Let there be none to extend mercy unto him...

Capt Michael Greene While I am far from satisfied with the current occupant of the white house, I would not wish him ill. Frankly I think it is despicable for a public figure to make such a statement.

No, that is not OK. Not in an official forum, and not in public. He should know better, even if many don't get the reference right away. I'm sure he thought it was funny. It isn't.
I have no love for what our current President has done, policy wise, but that does not ever constitute wishing him death.

Is it ok for him to have a personal opinion of the President, of course. Is it in extremely bad taste to wish death upon him, absolutely.

Whether or not you like the man, he is still our President. You don't have to agree with anything he says or like a single one of his policies. The fact remains that he is the face of our Country. He is the leader of this Country. Think of all the ways each President has been undermined by the general public. Not just Obama, but Bush, Clinton etc. If this is the way we view our Country's leader, how do you think the leaders of other Countries view our leader?

We weaken our own Nation when we denigrate the face of our Country. We can argue policy until we're blue in the face, but when we're calling for someone's death, making comparisons to Hitler, having televised news conferences over a blowjob, we're are tainting the image of this great Nation.

I somewhat agree but there is still that first amendment thing and there is no law that mandates we owe any allegiance or obedience to any leader (I'm speaking of the general public, not military adherence to their oath). Where is the line drawn? I agree it is in bad taste the way we treat our leaders, but I believe it's worse when other politicians and the media do precisely the same thing. It's common for citizens to not respect their elected officials, in fact, it's pretty much expected. However, when the media and our other elected personnel demonstrate this same behavior, that is what gets noticed by the rest of the world.
Now, just my two cents on another matter... The news conferences were not over a blowjob, they were over perjury, what was once considered a serious offense but is now a run of the mill practice in Washington.

Cpl. i respect the office but i do not have to respect the man or women. Someone said we don't treat our leaders very well. Our nations leaders lie and cheat and take advanage of the American public. Most things they do is for their reelection and how many leave Washington broke? They lied on Obamacare, the treaty with Iran and who know what else.
