Because he is a Muslim at heart from his upbringing in Indonesia.

The truth is, he lived in Indonesia for two years when he was about 7 yrs old. While there, he went to catholic school.

Being raised by a Muslim father and having lived in Indonesia in a rich Muslim environment, he has deep-seated feelings of affirmation towards that faith. He has made that abundantly clear since his World Apology Tour and his personally divisive feelings of animosity towards Israel.

SGT Edward Wilcox, his mother sent him to live with her parents in Hawaii because his stepfather Lolo Sowetoro was not sufficiently radical to suit her.
