Came across this article today during lunch. It seems now that the National Army Museum will not open until maybe 2018 due to lack of funding.

The Army is the last branch to have a museum built to showcase artifacts for the general public to see. That's right, after 239 years of service, the Army is still without a way to showcase it's history in one central location.

I wish I could say I'm surprised by the delay, but I'm not. I do hope that it's completed and I'm able to visit before it's my time to leave this earth.

Something I would like to visit once I retire. Maybe it will be done by then?!?!?

Who knows, at this rate it might be done by the time our kids retire. I am just curious how many people never realized the fact that we don't have such a place for the Army. It just strikes me as something that has been overlooked for so long people just found it easier to continue overlooking it.

SGT Ben Keen Well I understand that it will be an "all encompassing" museum, but we have so many different ones for all the different branches already. Just here in FT Lee we have the military women's museum as well as the Quartermaster museum.

Oh I hear you 1SG (Join to see) . Just about every post has at least one if not more museums. Going to the museum at Fort Campbell was part of the reception process when I first got there. Fort Huachuca has a little museum as well that I took my family to. But I do think having one central location where the entire Army can come together and remember our history and honor our present day accomplishments would be a great thing to see.
