I am very biased towards the old Army Khaki uniforms. They looked sharp and were comfortable.
Had to go to the movie vault to find a decent picture.

SPC Margaret Higgins - LOL
You don't really think that I am Mel Gibson or Sam Elliot, do you?
I might be old, but I was not present at Ia Drang.

I agree 1SG The khaki uniform was the sharpest amongst the uniforms I wore from 1976 to 2010. I think the green class A uniform looked better with the long-sleeved poplin shirt. Winter greens always looked better than summer greens. Khaki's looked especially sharp with the Drill Sergeant Hat or in airborne units with jump boots and berets.

In the Army. None of them. The Green Weenie was a awful uniform. I do like the Blues now right up till they jack with it.\

My time in the Navy....hands down the 13 Button Dress Blues. I have to go with CAPT Kevin B. Dungarees were the shiznat! as far as working uniforms go in any branch.

SeaFarers with Boondockers. That was NAVY. That was a work uniform.

As for Dress, CrackerJacks. (Did not like the Dress Blues with double breasted buttons).

PO2 Robert Aitchison - You weren't supposed to carry anything but keys and wallet in pants pocket anyway. They worked fine for me for 10 years. Made a great flotation device too.

I'll pile on here. Back in the day, all we had was a rectangular locker on the deck in which everything had to be folded. Wool monkey suits turned inside out, everything else in its place. We had one shared locker which Civ clothes could be hung. Then they came out with everything that needed to be hung and there went our Civ locker. The new working uniform was known as a "nut grabber". The new coat/tie dress uniform was hotter than hell. Yes the dungarees looked salty fairly quickly and the pant pockets were useless, but they were comfortable, unlike everything since. Besides, we really didn't use the pockets for anything on ship as you just kept a few dollars in the locker for the geedunk. Smokes went in the shirt pocket. There was a fad where the snuff cans were in the rear pocket to create a butt ring.
