How do we diffuse racial tension involving the police?

There is no simple answer because we can't even agree on what the problem is. Are we concentrating on the wrong issue? Are we capable of challenging our own perception or are we so wise and all knowing that no one can tell us anything different? Why do we dismiss facts that don't fit our perceptions? This is a complex question for a complicated issue.

If I say what I want to say...there will be some who will have a problem with it...
Maybe all of these folks who are bitching and complaining should spend six months as a cop...go through Police academy, and then hit the beat and see what it's like...especially some of these congressmen and law makers....then they'll get a good idea of what it's like and they'll see all of the crime and crappy activity going on in the INNER cities, and through out the cities....and finally get off of their high horses and come to a realization of the TRUTH and then hopefully come up with a solution that'll work better and work out for everyone.

I can't speak for anybody else, but when you talk about the "crappy" activity going on in the inner cities, I know more about that than a lot of other people, because I've lived it. I grew up in the heart of Philadelphia, where there were a lot of shady things going on. But, at least back then, any crime story I heard about on the news ended one of two ways: "anybody with information that could help the investigation, please call XXX-XXXX," meaning they were looking for the asshole who did it, or "a suspect is in custody," meaning they already found him. That's really all anyone can expect when bad things happen, regardless of who is responsible. Investigation, arrest if warranted, and sentencing if convicted.
WITH THAT BEING SAID... Lol
That's how the system is supposed to work, so why do we have so many people who want to take the law into their own hands? Why so many trigger-happy cops? I don't know how it was for the Air Force, but in the Army we get periodic escalation of force training, and it gets doubled down before and during deployments. Are police getting this same training? If not, that might be a good place to start.

I think police review boards composed of police citizens and activists to review cases. If the media reports a false naaitive they should be subject to suits for damage from demonstrations etc. I nean if the media jumps on Trump "for jumping the gun on the New York City bombing what is this?

I completely agree. Media is VERY guilty of instigating so much distrust in all of this. The rush to be first to report makes for sloppy journalism. I want to see 'allegedly' being included in these early claims.

I believe in some cases people are so prejudiced that they have made up their minds before even looking at the facts.
Because of this they believe what they say is true.
