Large enemy elements destroyed in seconds. Sadly, I've only seen them in action a few times, but it's a huge rush seeing that kind of devastation first hand.

I watched one land with holes in most of the surface area of the airframe. The ground crew fixed it with duct tape and it was airborne a few hours later. The A-10 is the most effective aircraft for "Close Air Support" for the ground forces engaged in direct combat.

In the Korengal, it's ranged from a M203 to 155mm M777. Needed all of them. But the AT-4 was always a good time.

My battalion was in the Korengal in 2006 until the 173rd airborne took responsibility. I was only there for a few months until I injured my knees, and it's the roughest terrain in Afghanistan. As far as weaponry, I'd have to give the edge to the C130 gun ship. Great response. Glad you made it out safely.

Easy, the weapon system I flew, F-111s, all versions. From flying at 540 knots at 400' off the deck to perfecting "tank plinking" during the first Gulf War it proved itself in a wide variety of roles and missions (ask Libya).

1SG Scott George - Add to that the fact that at low altitude we could walk away from anything that flew.

CPT Andrew Wright - Those folks from Cannon knew how to get a job done. When I was at HQUSCENTCOM they chopped to us so I loved going out there on staff assistance visits. Great unit!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - I would bet that we know more than a few of the same people.
