I am a former WAARNG soldier and was a PL by the time I left service. During my time as a leader, I met my fair share of soldiers who "popped hot" for different substances and had to deal with far too many excuses, many of them silly beyond belief.

My question is this: now that recreational use of marijuana is legal in Colorado and Washington, are the number of positive UAs increasing for soldiers stationed in those states? I'm wondering both about RC and AD units.

Hopefully not otherwise we'll have a new political battle on our hands. Even though its legal in these 2 states its still against UCMJ. Can you imagine the battle? It stays in your system for up to 30 days yet a NG member is not bound by UCMJ unless on orders. Holy Smoke, Batman!
