If you could vote for anyone to win the 2016 presidential election, who would it be and why? Who would you like to see make a run if they are not doing so already?

Would it be Allan West? Mike Huckabee? Jen Bush? Gary Johnson, or dare I say Hillary Clinton.

It disclaimer is that I want this to be a mature and legitimate conversation. I enjoy hearing other people's views and experiences. Like mama used to say "if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything"

What have you RP? Sound off!

While I like the idea of a comedian in office for its somewhat cathartic quality, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. For starters, we don't need a President who's an anti-vaccination crank the way Maher is.

Of course, being an atheist would also make him essentially un-electable regardless of qualifications, as polls have shown atheists are trusted less than virtually every group, often below Muslims, and about even with convicted rapists. And that's despite the fact that, statistically, atheists are *more* likely to be ethical than those who wouldn't vote for one...

Anti-vaccine? I had no idea Maher got behind that. Not sure why that was ever a thing. Hopefully the Disney park incident proved that point. At least the election debates would be entertaining.

I've liked Allen West, and Even Carly Fiorina, but I doubt either will win the nod of the party. Justification for statement is the way the primary is set up with. The republican party is really not set up with an early primary that does not favor anything other than conservative Christian old white men with Iowa NH and SC to start off the race, going into Super Tuesday if your not out front you will most likely lose by the end of that day. Of course foot in the mouth disease has sunk a fair share of candidate's. This can make It really difficult for minority and female candidate's in the GOP. Rubio is also interesting but is not well liked outside Cuban Latino's in the Hispanic circle. Christie is most likely sunk over bridge gate. Huckabee will do well early till he has to go to states that have complex demographics where he will falter. Cruz, all I can seeing him saying is speeches in a Dr. Seuss rhyme, "better President I am, I don't like Hillary with green eggs and ham"

On the Flip side the Dem's really haven't offered up anything interesting, with nothing more than Hillary, and a bunch of third strings. Unless someone counts up all of her scandals and can make a decent argument as to why she should not be the Democratic nominee, I see her as the eventual leader of her party.

I like Dr Carson as well. I just believe his lack of political experience will be his thorn.

I worry you're right...and what that says about the party process, since I think the vaaaaasssssttttt majority of Americans would prefer somebody with practical - not political - experience. I get that you have to be able to function in DC - but when the only way to function is to manipulate the political machine, THAT is the friggin' problem.

Dr. C is the smartest guy in the room, bar none, and yet knows he doesn't know everything. I like him for the P and would put a pit bull like Cruz or maybe Alan West in as his VP.

I believe Ben Carson can bring citizenship and humanity back to Capitol Hill, at which time REAL conversations can take place.

My choice would be Mike Huckabee. Articulate, and calls things as he sees them. His views do not seem to be colored by anything other than a willingness to inform and enlighten. Besides he can cut the WH staff by firing all speech writers and simply do it himself.

Mike Huckabee or Scot Walker. They have worked with legislatures which did not agree with them and have worked to advance legislation which benefitted each person in their states. They have business and state executive leadership experience.
