Russia will benefit immensely, why do you think Putin used his intelligence resources to help elect Trump?

Well the question is should we go to war against Russia over the Crimea when the majority if Crimeans wanted to be annexed by Russia and most Ukrainians didn't care much about the province? My answer is it would have been a largely BS reason. Yes the Russians took the wrong approach to annexation (invasion) but if the vote were held fairly on Crimea within the province under UN supervision, the result would have been the same. So on the Crimea issue I am willing to give Russia a break with a negotiated solution. Eastern Ukraine is a different story and on that I would hold fast on, that Russian Troops should withdrawl. I however think that can be negotiated with the Russians as well so that both sides agree. If you back a Nuclear Power into a corner that thinks they are your military equal and do not provide an off ramp that will allow them to save face, you better be willing to fight a war with them or be preparing for them to attack. I believe Trump's approach is a LOT MORE COMMON sense than Obama's or Clinton's.

Not just Crimea, they are still fighting in Eastern Ukraine and with Putin's "investment" in Trump he will be emboldened further. If I were the leader (or a citizen) of any former Soviet state that borders Russia I'd be terrified.

Russia is happy thinking/hoping that Donald Trump wil lift sanctions. Iran and China , I am certain, are worried.

I think we can negotiate the Crimea since the majority of Crimeans wanted association with Russia outside of the rigged election and invasion (and most Ukrainians pre-invasion didn't really care if the province spun off). I think your right on Eastern Ukraine, Russians need to withdrawl unconditionally there before we lift sanctions. I think if we show to Russia we are flexible on Crimea but not so much on Eastern Ukraine it will soften the Russian hardline position and maybe we can settle the dispute there.

SPC Erich Guenther - what do you think about this I was watching wolf blitzer's situation room yesterday and it was showing the Russian markets are doing well with the anticipation of lifting of sanctions and now the Baltic states of NATO were worried that president-elect Donald Trump's going to sell them out. I had a discussion with a friend of mine and the news has disgusted to that Donald Trump really is a wonderful but if he doesn't want to participate and give 2% of the gross domestic product tornado defense than the US May threaten to pull out because they're not pulling their fair share. I hope this is not true but I hope the Europeans got the money I've got enough money to pay for vacations for 6 weeks out of the year or more and free maternity leave even they can pay for men to have to leave off with their wife but they can't pay 2% of GDP for tanks weapons soldiers infrastructure for the military excetera. Even Canada is only paying 1.2% which is really stupid. What are your thoughts?
